3. Suzanne Morton

Name: Suzanne Morton

Roll on the Committee: Honorary Secretary

How did you get involved in Manchester Rugby Club?
Became team manager for my son’s team when he joined when he was five. Then became Secretary shortly after when the then current Sec decided she wanted to step down.

What makes you stay in rugby?
Love the community atmosphere at the club and the sport in general and believe in its core values. I’ve met a lot of people over the years who have become some of my closest friends.

Biggest achievement/proudest moment in rugby:
There have been two. The first one was when the first team won their first game after falling through the leagues for many years. We had all worked so hard to stick together through the worst period the club had ever encountered. The second one was when my son made his debut for the first team after playing at the club since he was five years old. It meant a lot to both of us.

Vision for the future of Manchester Rugby Club:
To continue to provide the sport for people from every walk of life and every shape, size, sex and age. To encourage and develop every player and help to shape them into becoming considerate, positive and confident adults. On a larger scale to try and improve the facilities to make the experience the best it can be.

What do you do away from rugby?
Work full time for myself doing accounts and salaries for a couple of companies. Walking my dog, cooking, going to the gym, reading and enjoying a drink or two in good company.

Quick fire answers:
Favourite food: Italian
Favourite film: Any of the Marvel films plus the old classic Shawshank Redemption which I have watched numerous times.

Who would play you in the film of your life? Jennifer Saunders or the Queen !!
Pet peeve: Middle lane hoggers on the motorway or people parking in mother and child/disabled spaces unnecessarily
Advice for new players: Attend social events – you will make a host of new friends and get involved!
Advice for those wanting to volunteer: There are so many things that can be done to make the club a better place. Anything you can do- no matter how small can make a difference. I guarantee you will benefit from volunteering – sense of belonging and doing some good for others is such a satisfying feeling.
