Name: Nat Hall
What is your role within MRC?
Chair of M&J, U11 Coach & official boot lace knotter.
Why did you become involved with MRC?
It’s a family thing. My parents were life long members and I took an interest in playing at age 10. I joined the ‘women’s’ team at 15, played for 14 years and took up coaching to stay warm rather than stand on the side lines watching little legs playing in the mud! 2 years ago I was asked to take over the role of M&J Chair, the 1st female to hold the role.
Do you consider yourself to be a role model?
If so, how? To a degree yes. I apply myself 100% to everything I do and I’m not afraid to ask for help if I need it, something I have worked hard on over the years. There is always something you can improve on and knowing not to take on too much at once is one way of reaching that goal of being the best you can.
How would you encourage other women to get involved with the club or with rugby?
Speak to any of us! Come and watch a game, join us for a drink, have a natter in the kitchen keeping warm on a Sunday morning, we are always around! Once in the rugby family it’s hard to leave!
What are your aspirations in terms of female representation for the club?
I want to see girls rugby grow through the lower age groups and maintain those numbers through to the senior teams. I would also like to see more women joining the coaching team. I may even put on the MRC jersey one more time to show that age or sex doesn’t matter to play rugby as I near a certain birthday milestone!
