We are proud to be part of a “Kids First” Rugby Club and we have a player centred coaching philosophy. This means kids having fun learning Rugby and their needs coming first.

We encourage our players to be the best that they can be and we place enjoyment at the heart of what we do.

All new players always made extremely welcome.

We train on Wednesday evenings at Grove Park 6-7pm and meet on Sunday mornings at 10:15 for fixtures at home and sessions finish at approx 12pm. Away fixtures timings depend on the opposition. We also compete in the Lancashire County Tournament which culminates in a Finals Day in April/May.

To be eligible for U14s during the 2024-2025 season, your son must be aged 13 years on 1st September 2024 (i.e. in school Year 9)

At this age group we play full contact rugby, with player safety absolutely our top priority. As a result mouth guards are mandatory.

These are the core skills of Rugby: PASSING, CATCHING, TACKLING, RUNNING and EVASION. We develop these through games rather than drills.

Our players have the freedom to play without the fear of making mistakes, to express themselves, use their imagination and to be creative (in other words, be themselves).

We have a squad of mixed ability and stature, they all have their own strengths and and areas to work on. The players naturally grow and develop at different rates and we look carefully at the needs of both the individual and the team in terms of their development.

We really encourage the kids to help each other out because learning from your peers is a great way to learn!

We ensure that they understand and follow Rugby's five core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Disciple and Sportsmanship.

We operate a rotation policy so all of our players are given equal game time.

Child Protection – We adhere to the RFU’s Safeguarding Guidelines. All our coaches are RFU qualified and hold enhanced DBS (criminal records) checks.

Concussion – any player that receives a knock to the head will be immediately removed from play and will not be allowed to return. We will assess the player and we will, if necessary, recommend that the player is taken for assessment by a medical professional.
