“EVERY CHILD MATTERS”
Child Protection – We adhere to the RFU’s Safeguarding Guidelines. All our coaches are RFU qualified and hold enhanced DBS (criminal records) checks.
Concussion – any player that receives a knock to the head will be immediately removed from play and will not be allowed to return. We will assess the player and we will, if necessary, recommend that the player is taken for assessment by a medical professional.
We focus on skill development and enjoyment to bring out the best in each player.
The core skills of Rugby don't change: PASSING, CATCHING, TACKLING, RUNNING and EVASION and we develop these skills through enjoyable games.
Our players have the freedom to play without the fear of making mistakes, to express themselves using their imagination and to be creative - in other words: be themselves!
We have a squad of mixed ability and stature: they all have their own strengths and areas to work on. The players naturally grow and develop at different rates and we try to manage carefully the needs of both the individual and the team in terms of overall development.
The kids develop close friendships and we encourage the kids to help each other out because learning from your teammates is a great way to learn.
We operate a rotation policy so all of our players are given equal game time and the teams we field are a mix of abilities. There is no streaming of players into 1st/2nd teams etc.
We play full contact rugby, with player safety absolutely our top priority. As a result mouth guards are mandatory.
Please ask if you need some advice about mouth guards.
To be eligible for the U12's your son or daughter must be aged 11 on 1st September 2024 (Year 7)
We would ask that parents:
- Ensure that there is an adult present who is responsible for their child during the sessions.
- Respect the spirit of rugby with positive encouragement for ALL teams and absolutely no criticism of refereeing decisions and no coaching from the touch line.
- Are prepared for their children to play in both home and away games.
- We deliberately mix boys and girls from different schools and different abilities in order to encourage an inclusive approach to rugby.
We ensure that they understand and follow Rugby's five core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Disciple and Sportsmanship.
We meet on Sunday mornings at 10.15am until 12.00 noon for training and matches.
Please bring a drink and a snack for your child.
If you are new to rugby then trainers or football/rugby boots and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather.
Cold and wet children make unhappy rugby players.
Please look under the Matches tab for details of where we are playing each week.
Our season fun starts in September 2024 at Manchester Rugby Club and we look forward to seeing you all there. We are running sessions from June 2024 to introduce rule changes and these sessions are a great opportunity to learn the sport at a slower pace without the pressure of matches.
