The Under 7's play 4 a side Tag Rugby, Contact (full tackling) does not begin until Under 9's

Eligibility for the Under7's is that the player is 6 years old on the 31st August (School Year 2)

Players must be 6 years old to play in competitive matches, this is a requirement of the club and RFU.

Players who are Under 6 (5 years of age) are welcome to join the squad for training.

KIT

Having the right kit to play in and for the conditions is paramount to both player and parent enjoyment.

If you are new to the club, you child will need football/rugby boots, tracksuit, t-shirt and if the weather is bad a waterproof and hat

You are not expected to purchase the kit immediately. General advice would be to leave it for a month at least to see if your child likes playing. If you haven’t got the Manchester Rugby Club kit having registered with the club and wish to play in competitive/friendly games you need to wear a red top, navy/black shorts and red socks.

For tournaments (RFU sponsored) you need to wear the official kit (club shirt, navy shorts and red socks) which can be purchased from the club shop.

Most of the players also wear Kooga Vortex Training tops,

Once you have decided that your child wishes to continue playing they must become a member of the club's Mini & Junior Section and the appropriate membership fee be paid, they must also be registered with the RFU as a player.

Follow the Golden Rules, Children are not perfect and we understand they have different levels of maturity.

The coaching staff will review each training session/match upon completion

If you have any issues regarding your child please talk to a member of the coaching staff either before training, during a break, or at the end of the session.

Similarly if we feel the need to talk to a parent regarding a player we will do so as appropriate.

We would prefer to speak to parents face to face, rather than correspond by email with regards to behaviour, however sometimes we may feel there may be a need to contact you during the week

Please remember that any persistent, negative behaviour by a player will adversely affect the players and coaches performance and attitude

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

Manchester Rugby Club and the Under 7's adhere to the RFU Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy and Guidance.

All children and vulnerable adults are entitled to protection from harm and have the right to take part in sport in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment.

Everyone shares the responsibility for safeguarding and, therefore, this policy and guidance will be both relevant and useful for all those involved in creating safe environments in rugby union whether as a parent, coach, spectator or club official.
In order to provide children with the best possible experiences and opportunities in rugby union, it is imperative that everyone operates within an accepted ethical framework and demonstrates exemplary behaviour. This not only ensures the game makes a positive contribution to the development of children, safeguards them and promotes their welfare but also protects all personnel from allegations of abuse or poor practice.
Allegations of abuse or poor practice must be reported to Jenny Johnson the Club Child Welfare Officer.
All of our coaches/parental participants are CRB checked and have attended Rugby Ready courses.

FIRST AID

Head Coach David Morford and Team Manager Alison Kelly our First Aiders have successfully completed an STA RFU Emergency First Aid for Sport course

We always have an appropriate first aid kit on hand

All new players will be made extremely welcome, and there is every opportunity for your son or daughter to become involved in the team.
